Self-Identification

AVRCE is highlighting collecting self identification as a system wide goal.  It is important for us to know our students and the diversity of the communities we serve. The Self-Identification section on the registration form is voluntary.  However,  self-identification helps us to understand how our demographics are changing and how to best support schools and students.  Self-identification helps us to be more inclusive when designating resources and personnel, to better support achievement for all students. Please see attached information.

Parents/Guardians: Opt In for Text Messages

We have a new messaging system that allows parents/guardians to receive text messages from our school and AVRCE.

If you would like to receive text notices for important updates, such as school cancellations and haven't already opted-in, text "Y" to 978338 from a mobile number that is on your child's registration form.  If you need to update your mobile number, please either contact the school office at 902.538.4680 or update your preferences on the parent portal. More information is at http://schoolmessenger.com/txtmsg. 

Whether you choose to opt-in to receive text messages or not, you will continue to receive emails and automatic phone calls according to your notification preferences; no action is needed.

AVRCE Notify Me for School Community Members 

AVRCE offers Notify Me, a service only for school community members (such as grandparents, childcare providers, etc.) to receive text/email notices of school cancellations. School community members can subscribe or unsubscribe to Notify Me at https://www.avce.ca/content/notify-me.  Please note, Notify Me has been updated as of December 6, 2021. School community members who signed up for Notify Me before this date must resubscribe to continue receiving text/email notices.

AVRCE also shares early morning school cancellation information at www.avrce.ca, on Twitter (@AVRCE_NS), through local radio stations (Magic 94.9, AVR Network, 89.3 Rewind and CBC Radio 1 Halifax), and through recorded messages on the AVRCE phone line (902-538-4600/1-800-850-3887).
